Meet Soumi — Founder of RongSuta

Soumi's relationship with Indian weaves began long before Rong Suta. A marketeer by profession and a saree lover at heart, she has always been drawn to pieces that feel simple, minimal, and effortlessly stylish.

Growing up, she watched her mother's wardrobe tell quiet stories through handpicked sarees, each drape carrying its own texture, colour, and memory. Her mother's admiration for Indian weaves and the grace they brought to everyday life left a lasting impression, nurturing an early love for textiles, craft, and timeless dressing.

Years later, while handling PR for fashion weeks, that connection found a new dimension. Immersed in the world of fashion storytelling, she saw how fabric could express confidence, mood, and identity, shaping the way she began to look at sarees not just as tradition, but as something effortlessly relevant to the modern wardrobe.

As someone naturally drawn to unique designs, breathable fabrics, playful colours, and versatile styling, Soumi often found herself searching for sarees that could move seamlessly through everyday life, from Monday meetings and spontaneous coffee runs to intimate celebrations and festive evenings.

That gap between tradition and daily wear slowly became impossible to ignore, gently nudging her toward entrepreneurship.

With no prior business experience, she took a leap from corporate life and began working closely with weavers to create thoughtfully versatile six-yard wonders, sarees that feel easy to drape, comfortable to wear, and beautifully aligned with today's lifestyle.

What began as a personal realisation gradually grew into RongSuta, a home for simple, stylish, and premium handloom sarees made for everyday stories.
